Defining Characteristics: 

  • Small specialized rounded leaves that resemble small peas or pearls, from which it gets its name 

  • Grows wonderfully in hanging baskets 

  • Dark stripe on the “pearls” is an epidermal (leaf) window that allows sunlight to enter the interior of the leaf

  • A unique plant that makes a stunning feature to any home container gardens
